NOM NOM MONDAY x WIMPY

Image
Ain't nothing like good company and good food, that's all you need for a good time. Today is my last day of eating junk food or take-outs, as I am beginning a low carb clean diet (I'm just tryna get healthy yo), but boy did I enjoy my Wimpy burger and Bar One Milkshake. The milkshake is so decadent and creamy, with just the right amount of Bar One chocolate. It took me back to my childhood, when I was chubby and could care no less about my weight. Sometimes it's good to just lose your uptight self in a milkshake, let your hair down and laugh with an ol' pal. May your Mondays be filled with love and laughter.

I'm a visual artist at heart and I must say life hasn't been as smooth these past couple of years. Last year I dropped out of varsity because I realised that what I was studying was not what I loved and it was not related to who I am. I convinced myself that I loved my modules, but I would spend my time reading articles on blogs and sketching dresses. I merely enrolled for my previous course because of security, I wanted to make sure that I don't end up unemployed. It was really for survival rather than passion and purpose.

I then dropped out, although it was the hardest thing to go through, it was the most liberating. This is my gap year basically and I've learned more about myself than I have in the past 19 years of my existence. I'm on a new path now, an exciting one. I will disclose that information later this year.

One thing I've learned though is that blogging is not easy, especially when you don't have the resources. When all you have is a concept, b…

Mr. P x Azania

Let's talk about Mr. Price (a retail clothing store in Africa). Mr. Price has personally been my life saver in many situations as a student, because of it's affordable prices and good quality clothing. My friends always shy away from it because they're conservative and usually the shop has bright, colourful and free-spirited clothing. However, I have found a solace in Mr. Price. The shop caters for everyone, my friends are misconceived. The grey bomber jacket I am wearing in the pictures is from Mr. Price and boy do I love it. I buy all my basic colours (black, grey, white, etc.) from there. Mr. Price serves for both free-spirited and minimalistic types of people. Some days I feel like wearing monochrome clothes and on other days I feel and colourful. Definitely the shop for me.

Coke x Classic

Recently I've been inspired by an artist called Tony Gum. She brought an African aesthetic to Coca cola with the pictures she has taken (www.tonygumonline.Tumblr.com). Personally I'm really taken by the typography of the Coca Cola branding, effective marketing and business success has made the logo recognisable anywhere in the world. In these pictures that my significant other took of me today I'm wearing a T-shirt I bought in Los Angeles, I specifically bought it because the logo on it looks like the Coca Cola logo. What's  remarkable about this brand is that it has never changed its image. Coca Cola has always been red and written in cursive, but it is still relevant today. I'm learning that by starting a brand I should invest in the future and build something that will be relevant in 50 years time. The traits of something that will stand the test of time are character and authenticity. By truly being yourself, you won't have the urge to keep impressing thos…
